Challenge

Junior Achievement will help students at the Young Women's Leadership Academy graduate high school and be prepared for college or work. Our programs provide skills to obtain a livable wage career, stress the importance and relevance of education to their future economic success, and provide financial knowledge that empowers young people to own their financial future. These skills ultimately help students succeed in life and can break a cycle of poverty.

Solution

To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
Young people are dropping-out of school at alarming rates, and the future of female drop-outs are poor as they face employment challenges, poverty, and reliance on public support. Junior Achievement's programs at the Fort Worth Young Women's Leadership Academy provide skills that help students obtain a livable wage career, stress the importance and relevance of education to their future economic success, and provide financial knowledge that empowers young people to own their financial future.

Long-Term Impact

It's been proven that students who receive JA six times during their school career are 90% more likely to graduate from high school. The goal of our project will be for youth to develop attitudes aligned with high school graduation and 21st century skills that prepare them for success. In addition, JA programs improve student academic performance and achievement leading to increased graduation rates.
