This garden solution will help the entire central Wilmington, North Carolina community by supplementing an inadequate fresh vegetable/fruit supply and will also beautify the community. The garden is located near 2,000 or more families on Castle Street, in the heart of Wilmington.

Our Mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Core Beliefs A Boys & Girls Club provides: A safe place to learn and grow... Ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals... Life-enhancing programs and character development experiences... Hope and opportunity.
In Wilmington, NC young ladies between the ages of 13-25 who have been subjected to domestic violence home and are now living in a shelter don't have access to adequate healthy food or the tranquil home life many take for granted. The Community Boys & Girls Club of Wilmington is partnering with The Operation Legacy Project to build their own community garden providing nourishing food in their own back yard and to learn about gardening and agriculture.

Long-Term Impact

There are over 2,000 shelters and service programs for victims (growing more and more everyday). The teens who are victims are often looked over and take out their anger throughout their community by committing crimes, turning to drugs, gangs and other forms of violence. Or by withdrawing from school and society all together. By partnering with domestic violence and homeless shelters the Community Boys & Girls Clubs of Wilmington hopes to be a positive influence in these teens' lives.
