Challenge

A recent survey conducted by Junior Achievement USA and The Allstate Foundation shows us our teens are thinking differently-at least in terms of their financial security and independence. Teens are no longer as confident in their ability to achieve financial freedom. The survey of more than 1,000 14 to 18 year-olds found that only 56 percent think they will be as financially well-off or better than their parents. That represents a 37 percent drop from 2011.

Solution

JA's mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. Junior Achievement transforms the lives of students by showing them their own potential and making them aware of the world around them.

Junior Achievement provides students the knowledge and skills to own their economic success so they can attain their life goals.

Long-Term Impact

JA's programs in middle and high schools, delivered by business volunteers, provide skills to help students obtain a livable wage career, stress the importance and relevance of education to their future economic success, and provide financial knowledge that empowers them to own their financial future. In students from economically disadvantaged families, these skills can help break the cycle of poverty and open new opportunities.
